(Press release: Krefeld, March 8, 2017) – The innovative battery system by E-Stream Energy GmbH & Co. KG has passed several load tests at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Applied Materials Research (Fraunhofer IFAM). The lithium-ion battery module tested withstood the requirements of a real driving profile of a combustion vehicle – despite the very high power consumption for a short time. The temperature deviations of the measuring points in the battery module were below 10°C and thus remained within the tolerance range.

Our intelligent thermal management ensures that the heat is evenly distributed within the battery modules and never reaches the critical limits.”

The battery module was tested in a temperature chamber at ambient temperatures of 10, 25 and 40°C and loaded with performance data based on a real driving profile of a BMW F10 530d combustion vehicle. The charge level was 100% at the beginning of the tests.

During the tests, capacities of 170, 173 and 175 Ah as well as ranges of 306, 315 and 323 km were determined. The average speed until the test was aborted in all three trials was approx. 133 km/h – including idle times (traffic jams, traffic lights, breaks) and journeys within urban areas. No temperature and voltage limits were reached (except for the final discharge voltage).

Finally, the battery module was discharged at an ambient temperature of 25°C with constant base load and short peaks. The test was successful because the battery module provided 172 Ah and neither exceeded nor fell below the temperature and voltage limits.
